Tobacco Shops: 5 Tips To Find the Right One for You

Pleasure to burn

Do you have a favourite shop that you keep going back to, time and time again, to pick up a few necessities? The premises may be a little worn and the shopkeeper a little past retirement age but you can’t help but be charmed by it.

Studies show that many people return to shops for repeat purchases both out of habit and because it’s a place they love, despite any imperfections it may have. If you’re a long-time smoker, you might have waded through many tobacco shops to find the one you use and peruse most often to this day.

Struggling to find your personal favourite tobacco shop? Here are a few quick tips to choose the one for you.

1) Go with age
Though they will undoubtedly know the difference between plug and twist tobacco, a young tobacco supplier may not be as clued in as the wizened old smoker who’s been around for many years. They will have been there when all the smoking fads and trends were coming in and their range will reflect this.

2) Make it a family affair
There are plenty of tobacco shops around but not many that have been passed down through the generations. These family businesses will have a lot of passion or what they do as it’s something that’s in their blood and you know they’ve been taught the right way to be open for this long.

3) Ask the questions
It’s always a bit of a tricky thing going into a shop and asking questions; you don’t want to look like you don’t know what you’re talking about. If you can walk into a tobacco shop, ask the tobacconist a few simple questions and feel totally comfortable whilst doing so, then you might be onto a winner. A friendly face goes a long way.

4) Research online
A quick Google search will bring you a list of results and shops local to you but that doesn’t mean they’re the right one for you. Do some research on their history and look into some previous buyers’ opinions to find out more before you buy, it could save you a bad experience if they’re notorious online. Instead, look for verdicts from many sources and make up your own mind.

5) Don’t be afraid to go independent
It can be too much of a lure to go for the shiny, branded tobacco shop that seemingly pops up all over the country instead of the homely traditional tobacco shop. This is a shame because the latter tobacconists have no agenda and instead focus on finding the right tobacco for you and to guide you through the options.
