The differences between Cigars and Cigarettes


Both cigarettes and cigars contain tobacco. The main difference is that in a cigar (especially if they're cuban cigars), the wrapper is made from leaf tobacco, whereas cigarettes are wrapped up in paper. Cigars are generally a lot thicker than cigarettes, and tend to last a lot longer when smoked. A cigar contains more tobacco than a cigarette, which is representative from the price differences.

Wrappers: A cigarette uses paper as a wrapper, whereas a cigar uses a tobacco leaf.
Time to smoke: a cigarette takes between 5 and 10 minutes and a cigar can take from 30 to 90 minutes to smoke.
